Cholesterol

Did you know that the body makes all the cholesterol it needs? This is quite evident when we look at God's original diet, which only contains plant foods. Cholesterol is made in the liver and is found only in animal products. Many Americans are taking medications for elevated blood cholesterol, hypercholesterolemia, which are both expensive and may cause serious side effects, including liver, muscle damage and death.

A recent study publish in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition ( 2005 Jun; 81(6): 1351-8) revealed that plant fiber, reduce the LDL (bad) cholesterol in diabetic and non diabetic patients but by 15.1% and 26.8% respectively. So if you want to help prevent heart disease associated with hypercholesterolemia, follow God's best diet and includes large amounts of beans, vegetables and grains. You must also exercise regularly, and then "watch God work." "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones." (Proverbs 3:5-8) Sabbath - August 13, 2005 Herbal Remedy Problems

If you have any autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, dermatomyositis, pemphigus vulgaris, lupus or the likes, you will need to be careful about using herbs known to stimulate the immune system. The Dermatology Department at the University of Pennsylvania reports the several patients had flare-ups of their condition after using Echinacea and Spirulina. This was reported in the Archives of Dermatology. Vol. 140(6)(pp 723-727), 2004 . Many believe that herbs can be used for any condition, but you need to know that they do carry health risk if used inappropriately. So be careful; using that natural herb may lead to natural problems.
