WAIST SIZE AND CHOLESTEROL
If you don't know what your bad cholesterol (LDL) level is; and thus your risk for heart disease then knowing your waist size may help. In the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 2006 Jan;83(1):30-5 researchers from Barcelona, Spain were able to correlate the waist circumference with the levels of bad (LDL) cholesterol. What did they find? A waist measurement above 40 inches in men, and 35 inches in women was associated with a higher LDL cholesterol. This was independent of weight or BMI (body mass index). Regular exercise associated with proper eating is known to reduce both the waist size and LDL cholesterol. In addition, it also increases the HDL or good cholesterol. So if you are struggling with "the spread," why not seek strength from our loving Savior because we have the assurance, " But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19)
