Trouble Sleeping?

We all know how important a good night's sleep is for our health, but sometimes a little help is needed even when the room temperature is right, we have exercised during the day, we have avoided stimulants and stimulating circumstances, and we have prayed; but we still have trouble getting adequate sleep. A recent study in the Japanese journal, Acta Med Okayama 2005 June;59(3):89-92 , reported the benefits of a simple common herb, Valerian. Studies show that though it may take up to 2-3 weeks to receive maximal benefits, this simple herb has no significant side effects and helps one fall to sleep faster and also improves the quality of sleep. "There are many simple herbs which, if our nurses would learn the value of, they could use in the place of drugs, and find very effective." (LLM.316.006)
