Importance of Breakfast
There is not substitute for starting the day with a good breakfast. In the Journal of the American Dietetic Association, September 2005 it was demonstrated that teenage girls who started the day with a high fiber cereal as part of their breakfast were leaner and maintained a lower BMI (body mass index) throughout life compared to those that skipped breakfast. Having a normal BMI reduces the risk of many form of cancer, hypertension, heart disease and reduces rate of gallbladder disorders and sleep apnea. In another study it was noted that eating breakfast improved cognitive function related to memory and test grades. School attendance was also improved.
In the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Vol. 81, No. 2, 388-396, February 2005 skipping breakfast caused an increase in blood fats and cholesterol and also decreased insulin sensitivity after eating which increases the risk for heart disease and diabetes respectively. So start your day off right with communion with God and communion with a good breakfast every morning.
